Our Healthy Harrow Walk and Talk Club was set up and specially designed to support members of the Black African and Caribbean community in Harrow. The project is funded by Harrow Giving as part of its Harrow Black & Minority Ethnic Engagement & Health Activity Fund.
The fund was set up to address Health Inequalities in the community by helping members of the Black African and Caribbean community find help to stay healthy and support with health issues.
Our project offers a range of opportunities to find out about local support for your health. Our Walk & Talk Club offer low-level exercise designed to get you easily started on your healthy lifestyle journey again after the series of lockdowns. We get together with other members of the community, share information and make new friends. We hope you will feel more confident and inspired to continue to experiment with other exercise routines, while sharing your concerns with other friendly members. You will feel connected to your local community and less isolated.
Have you experienced difficulty, discrimination or prejudice seeking support for your health? Are you discouraged from going to see your doctor? Do you have trouble trusting medical professionals? We offer a confidential listening ear in a safe environment while exercising.
We take a brisk walk around a local park called Cedars Open space for 2 hours. Young children and wheelchair users are also welcome. The Cedars Park has lots of play areas and our newly developed inclusive playground with specialist play equipment for wheelchair users.
